This weekend, I was exposed to a couple of websites by people who are leading change on sustainable eating through web-based platforms.
The first was The Perennial Plate, which founder, Daniel Klein, describes as a web-documentary series about adventurous and sustainable eating. They’ve explored everything from eating insects, to seaweed, to cooking completely local meals from Minnesota in the winter.
My New Roots is a blog by the charming Sarah Britton – a self-described holistic nutritionist and vegetarian chef. And wow, the recipes look amazing. She has a lovely TED talk about making one change in your diet per day, and also shows you how to make nut milk. I’m giving this a shot tonight; stay tuned for the results.
These have me really excited about making small and consistent changes in the way I choose to eat; on my birthday this past year (in June), I decided to start eating vegetarian. This choice was motivated by my desire to resist factory farming, especially after reading Jonathan Safran Foer’s Eating Animals. Since then, I’ve been on an adventure to discover delicious vegetarian recipes. Next step in the adventure? Home-made nut milk. Thanks, Sarah Britton.
